Dear Friends:  Desert Mirror Zendo is currently on hiatus and is not offering its usual schedule of zazen until further notice.  This site is maintained for archival purposes, but check back for future events!

Desert Mirror Zendo & Guest House is a small Soto Zen Buddhist meditation hall and spiritual retreat cottage located in the central Nob Hill neighborhood of Albuquerque, New Mexico. A weekly schedule of Zen meditation practice is offered in the Soto Zen tradition of Shunryu Suzuki-Roshi, founder of San Francisco Zen Center.

Desert Mirror is a relatively informal, lay community zendo whose practice is appropriate for all levels of meditators, from first-time beginners through very experienced practitioners.  Meditation instruction is available the first Monday of each month at 5:45 p.m., or by appointment.

Sitting at Desert Mirror

Please be seated and settled in the zendo at least 5 minutes before the posted starting time for zazen.  We have plenty of cushions, chairs and seiza (kneeling) benches, so you don’t need to bring anything unless you have very special sitting needs.

Occasional teacher visits, half-day retreats, and other special events (such as movie nights, potlucks, Sangha Day work practice, etc.) are scheduled about once a month and promoted via our email list.
